Let's Talk Research!

Spring & U.S. States Research is in the air!
The students have just started to work on researching the state of their choice. Mrs. Eshbach showed them super internet sites to gather information pertaining to their state. The third graders should start to research their information based on what is contained in their research note packs. I ran overheads of each of the pages and went over how to fill in the information properly. They will be working on those packets in school and at home for the next few weeks. After the packets are completed, the students will use the packets to help them write their final research reports. These will be completed mostly at school. If your child is behind in their work, however, they may come home for them to work on in order to get caught up with the rest of the class.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school or leave comments here.
Thanks so much!
Mrs. S.

April 23 is Take Your Child to Work Day. If you are interested in having your child join you at your workplace on this day, please let me know. I will send home all appropriate paperwork for you to fill out at your convenience.

Also...for all of my terrific 3rd graders, the due date to complete your first Mysterious Geography Search question is on Friday, April 3rd. If you do not have access to a computer at home, I have my classroom computer all ready for you...maps and all! I will give you time during independent reading to complete the activity.

Reminders!

I just wanted to post a few reminders for the next few days before spring vacation. First, conferences will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have not confirmed your date and time, please do so as soon as possible so I can schedule you in your desired date/time. Next, I will need all permission slips and checks for our Franklin Institute field trip. All above are due by the 7th of April. Finally, our Easter party will be held on Tuesday, April 7 from 12:20-1:15. If you have any donations, please send them in by that date.

First Assignment!

Ok, so I may be a bit excited to get started on this first assignment...I am just actually thrilled to be using technology and all of you that know me well know that this is exciting!
Your first assignment is called Mysterious Geographical Location Search. Your task is to read the description of the mysterious geographical location, search for the location using your classroom laminated maps, and then post your answer under the "comments" section of my blog.
Mysterious Geographical Location Search
Question One:
On which of the five Great Lakes is the city of Cleveland, Ohio located?
Remember to use your map skills to figure out today's mysterious location. Good luck & I look forward to reading your answers!

Welcome to Chalkboard Tango!

Chalkboard Tango is hopefully on its way with my first posting! This will be an awesome place for both parents and students to visit to get updates on important events in our classroom. I will also be listing assignments on this blog that students will know about ahead of time. They will need to visit this location to find each assignment and then respond to the assignment. I will be taking the students to the computer lab in another week to teach them how to access Chalkboard Tango and how to respond properly to each assignment. If students do not have access to a computer with internet capabilities, I will allow them to work on the assignment during class.
Hopefully, this will be a super way of communicating as an educational family!
