Welcome to May 2009!
Wow! How can it already be May starting tomorrow? It is hard to believe that we are in our last few weeks of school. Some info. for this upcoming week: I will be out on Monday afternoon as well as Friday morning... the students are aware of this and plans are in place for those days. On Monday morning, the children who earned Tiger Bucks should bring them to complete their shopping (10:10 am on Monday) with Mrs. Stricker and Mrs. Redding. Friday is an early dismissal for the students (1:30 pm) due to a teacher meeting.
We will be compiling class lists for the students who will be moving to Willow Creek. The students who are remaining at AMES have been placed this week. We are planning a Moving Up Day for the end of May. Details of this day will be sent home soon from the main office.
As a side note, many of the students have been full of questions regarding the swine flu. I am able to answer some questions in simplistic ways, but feel it would be best for them to speak with you about this issue. They are aware of the basic and how to keep themselves safe and healthy, beyond that...well, I am leaving that up to you!

State Reports Update

State Report Update

Just a reminder that the state report note packets are due on the 27th of April. We will be working on them in school and the students need to work on them at home (a daily assignment) each night as well until they are completed. Once the children have completed the research, they will start writing their actual reports in school.
Thanks so much for all of your help!

Let's Talk Research!

Spring & U.S. States Research is in the air!
The students have just started to work on researching the state of their choice. Mrs. Eshbach showed them super internet sites to gather information pertaining to their state. The third graders should start to research their information based on what is contained in their research note packs. I ran overheads of each of the pages and went over how to fill in the information properly. They will be working on those packets in school and at home for the next few weeks. After the packets are completed, the students will use the packets to help them write their final research reports. These will be completed mostly at school. If your child is behind in their work, however, they may come home for them to work on in order to get caught up with the rest of the class.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school or leave comments here.
Thanks so much!
Mrs. S.

Finally, our Easter party will be held on Tuesday, April 7 from 12:20-1:15. If you have any donations, please send them in by that date.
